It was a reflection on this past year; my first year working at an OSS company. I couldn't figure out how to wrap it all up when it started writing about how money tends to be at odds with the novel innovation that comes from pursuits that don't drive directly towards a return on investment. I even remarked on the fact I thought we were striking a nice balance.
But then suddenly we had a bunch of layoffs and it all hits different. 30 of my fellow engineers were let go, and I was assigned a new role (arbitrarily?)
Money is bad and it makes software (which is also bad) much much worse.
