Folks who know me from twitter may remember how early in 2022, Stanley started having trouble breathing through his nose. It was as if he was congested all the time but without any sort of runny nose or anything.

After weeks and months of diagnostic tests, performed by a ladder of increasingly specialized veterinary clinics, it became apparent that his nasal passages was being obstructed by cancerous growths. We also found out he has mast cell disease (a second type of cancer) in his spleen.

Over the summer, Stan underwent radiation therapy as an attempt to reduce the tumors in his nose. He responded very well! For a time he was breathing normally and in fact got all his energy back. He would run and play just like he used to.

Sadly, this was only temporary. He's starting to show signs of nasal obstruction once again.

Next week, Stanley will be doing some prep work before beginning a new phase of treatment. He will soon start taking a chemo pill called Palladia which should hopefully counter the growth for both cancers.

At any rate, it's tremendously hard to see the end for this old guy and only have options that hopefully delay the inevitable.

Next week, please take a moment to think of Stanley. Send him some Good Vibes.
