So, I just got off the phone with Stanley's oncologist. We talked about his heavier-than-usual shedding, and whether or not this was a cause to cease the meds he's on.

Sounds like, just like in humans, hair loss is to be expected with chemo-adjacent drugs, so Stanley's coat "thinning out" is quite likely the result of the drug. They clarified that this side effect isn't indicative of anything more serious than the awkwardness of bald spots on an otherwise furry cat. No need to adjust the medication.

My call to them about this was initially prompted by some poorly worded website copy describing the different side effects of the drug. There was an initial list of side effects, followed by a 2nd paragraph discussing the more serious side effects but also additionally touched on the side effects seen in cats (as opposed to dogs).

If I hadn't seen this article on the vet's website, I might have dismissed the entire thing as trivial. "Chemo causes hair loss," I would have said to myself. "This is to be expected," I would have concluded.
