I don't savage raid.

I use ley lines. I don't always notice when it's back up.

I'm good at using amplifier for my AOE rotation between bosses. I'm less good at remembering to use it for bosses but I do sometimes.

Swiftcast is the only role action I consistently remember to use.

I use triplecast for my AOE rotation and when I fuck up during bosses or need to dodge mechanics a lot.

I never remember to use manafont.

I manaward when I fuck up, but not proactively for healers.

I don't really know what my HP is, I just remember if I took a bad hit recently or not.

I have the aetherial manipulation on hover macro but I usually can't remember or see where my mouse is and have to wiggle it to find it and then try to hover over someone. I'd use the party list but I can't keep track of who is who.

I'd probably do more PVP if there was an audio indicator for my HP being low like the sound being muted or something.

  • Audio or better visual cues for low health or for vuln stacks. Muted audio, blurred screen edges, heartbeat sounds, etc.
  • Larger icons for status effects that matter, like for boss fights where a mechanic gives you a status that determines where you stand for another attack.
  • More hot bars or single action hotbars so I can make certain actions with cool downs larger.
  • Configurable audio cues for specific abilities coming off cool down.
  • I'm split on if this would affect gameplay too much, but swapping hotbar setups without having to hold modifier keys would really help, i.e. one for ice phase and another for fire phase.
  • Target macro to nearest party member to my cursor.
  • That MacOS thing where wiggling the mouse makes it bigger temporarily.
  • Replace names above my party members with their role icon and/or class icon.

And how most people who care enough to post do not comprehend just how bad people can be at the game or just how much of a flood of information to parse it is for folks who don't handle that well.

A bit of a tangent inspired by reading this.

I've seen people describe "MMORPG mice", the kind with the goddamn numpad on the side, as necessary tools for making higher tier content in both FFXIV and WoW bearable. It's flightsim level control binding. But unlike flightsims you are expected to be able to access all of those controls immediately, without switching modes. And that is a necessary expectation because the seldom used hotbar items tend to be either emergency or 'there will be an emergency if I don't use this before this boss action finishes'.

I've (sometimes) taken off with a bomber in IL-2, actually hit the target, returned, and landed without compromise. And nothing I did there got even close to the amount of nearly simultaneous keys used as playing a tank in WoW or FFXIV.

in reply to @Osmose's post:

That last one more or less exists in the game: I’ve configured it to color code party members’ names by their role, and also display their job icons next to their names. The setting is buried somewhere in character options I think. The rest, yes, many of these would be very helpful to me too. I put my status effect display and HP/MP bars near the middle of the screen to help me keep track of them, but even there I have to squint or turn the camera solely to see the white numbers showing time remaining against the frequently light background.
