After spending so much time with cohost style posts, the title/body structure, the breathing room between them on the page, the friction of the post editor being kinda janky, being able to use even basic formatting, every little decision quietly nudging the user towards making more considered posts,

the clear delineation between “I have a comment” and “I am replying to share this with my own thoughts”, the way the latter lets you read the whole chain from top to bottom rather than a matryoshka doll of reply-on-top quote-post clickthroughs, the way comments are actually displayed in a tree view instead of a confused vertical stack,

I don’t think I can go back to the firehose of slop offered by twitter, or federated twitter, or vc-backed “federated” twitter.

I don't think I want to.

I've only been here two weeks, and it already feels far more cozy than any social media site I've ever been on. All those "nudges" add up to make something that feels completely different. Even the fact that the main column of content is just a little wider makes such a big impact.

I'm playing around with a personal website to cover some of the loss, but it just isn't the same. Not at all.
