I'd be glad to join this league, and help with software.

If a better/different federation protocol emerges, should we be able to adopt it? There's been some work by people I know on simplified but robust schema for this.

i'd be down to help organize something like this - although i certainly can't do it on my own, the activitypub world is largely unfamiliar to me and i feel like this sort of project would want some familiarity there. unless someone else already has, i can spin up a discord server (yeah yeah, i know - it can go somewhere else later, in the early phases accessibility/reach is important) to start kicking around some ideas in
