This is a character Ive meant to do more with.. some time ago, I had a realization that simpler less anthropoic characters could be expressive and engaging with much less effort then humanoids.
in this case the hands and arms were the focus, so those features have a full rig with normal articulation, but the body has only a single bone, and the legs, though they may look complex were designed to be driven by constraints, and are have only 2 control bones per leg.
the result is less then half the number of controls associated with a human body rig, and no face to deal with. I put this idea (and large chunks of this rig) into use in my "trance machine" video.
the image of the plant being kidnapped is a test from a short that would star in. the concept was that the cage would be sent out for something and repeatedly come back with obviously wrong items, and end by grabbing the viewer/ camera-person (as in the first animation)
