It's been really fucking bizarre. Is this just the president going off the rails? It really doesn't seem like everyone, or even a majority, is behind this so I don't know what the fuck.
Yeah, their vice president wrote a really excellent and scathing critique about all this, so there is definitely dissent in the ranks. But still, what the fuck actually
Augh, I'm not up to speed on all the other shit they've been doing, what the hell
word on the street is the teamsters have been in a real rut president / leadership wise for a while now and a split between left and right wing factions within the union
yeah obrien was more or less the joe biden to hoffa’s miserable-class-collaborating-worm in the 2022 presidential race. he won on the support of the rank-and-file, especially the UPS workers and the militants, and while he’s given the former their dues, the same cannot be said for the rest of us unfortunately…
can we clone shawn fain or put him in a costume so he can run the teamsters instead
Shawn Fain, Sinn Féin and Sean O’Brien walk into a pub..
You two might have seen this already but I saw it just now on my feed, John Palmer is forming an opposition slate to challenge O'Brien:

(sorry for Bsky link, the only other place I've seen this is on Twitter which is worse)
not sure if this is common practice but my local takes a 3 month break from general member meetings every summer. so for us, none of this shit has been even remotely discussed. there was a (kinda sketchy)1 vote on endorsements in may but that was it
the in-person vote not announced by email, as far as i could tell; my coworkers and i found out about it first from an email announcing the endorsement had been decided for biden, and second from the vote announcement fliers we received in the mail the following week. what the fuck is going on with the teamsters indeed
This has been on my TBR forever, maybe it's time I finally took the plunge 👀
It is a really powerful book. A deep exploration of the settler american labour aristocracy and, given we are maybe on the brink of the next step of the american fascist project, a very timely read too.
like. I get trying to break through propaganda and get conservatives energy to go towards ACTUAL "for the people" policies but 1. it was ineffective and 2. he did it in such a way that seems regressive to the labor movement
