- FAITH: The Unholy Trinity
- A true marvel of horror design and game design. A game I will keep thinking about for years. its a top all time game for me. I dont know what to say about it other than you should play this game. please play this game.
- Vampire Survivors
- yeah i got caught in the trap too. but i love this game regardless. im a huge castlevania fan, in no small part due to all of the fun monster designs and sprite work to be honest. this game takes the aesthetics i love and puts it on a highly addictive game loop that im still not tired of. the dlc is super fun too. really recommend you try it since theres now a free app or the game is on steam for super cheap.
- Rogue Legacy 2
- super fun and super replayable rogue-like. I loved the original Rogue Legacy and this game improves literally everything about the original game’s mechanics and adds so much more that makes for a totally solid experience. the narrative is engaging to discover and by engaging with it you get mechanical bonuses!
- Case of the Golden Idol
- I played this entire game in one sitting and i dont regret it. Much like obra dinn, youre presented with vignettes you must explore in order to figure out who died, how they died, and why they died. the narrative that unravels is really cool and its method of doing so is fantastic. a game that respects your intelligence and smartly designs every mystery to be solved.
- Shadows Over Loathing
- i loved west of loathing and i love this game even more. stick figure slapstick comedy but now set in cosmic horror entrenched east coast in the 1920s. i made a character totally fucked on shadow magic and it was fun. the comedic writing in the loathing games is some of the best around.
- Peglin
- it’s peggle! Except a rougelike too! and youre a goblin! i dunno, theres an appeal to making spheres disappear and make stuff happen. a little frustrating due to how easy it is to have an unbalanced run from the get go, but i still have a lot of fun playing it.
FUCK I FORGOT ONE
- Yomawari: Lost in the Dark
- Listen, this game is not for everyone, there’s a lot of triggering themes in this game. However, I personally love the yomawari games for being able to create a sense of horror and atmosphere that’s absent in a lot of larger horror game titles. I really liked the most recent addition in the series and i’d recommend looking up a content warning list before engaging with these games but they are really good and really worth the experience.
