i watched a haunting in venice, the most recent new poirot movie and.... it didn't hit the highs i felt during murder on the orient express, but it does enough cool stuff to repair my relationship with this movie series after death on the nile. death on the nile fucking sucked. a haunting in venice was interesting and was complex but still a really compelling mystery. i'm gonna go read halloween party, the story the movie was based on, and inevitably compare the two, but as a movie i think this does make me interested in any other movies that are made.
after 3 movies im still somehow unconvinced of branagh as poirot but i think i can say he's just fine after this one. he's fine.
a haunting in venice is a good and sorta scary mystery movie. is it a good poirot adaptation? not particularly, but i was engaged and entertained so it still gets a passing grade.
