im currently trying to make a 3d printing project that i first attempted in 2020 and in cleaning up a print my knife slipped and i had to go to the ER. so its some kind of catharsis? abreaction? to actually be able to be close to finishing it without injury or casualty lol.
what im more nervous about is running out of filament so i think it's going ok
i love these bugs, and i hope to share my love of them with all of you too! i've made four different types of cicada themed things to celebrate the emergence of Brood XIX and Brood XIII this year (something that only happens every 221 years!). They're amazing insects with such an interesting lifecycle and it's so fortunate that we get to experience something so momentous in our lifetime!

last night we drove out 45 minutes north to go to a less light polluted area at midnight and it was so fucking worth it. the aurora was beautiful and so all encompassing of the sky. my housemate took some fantastic photos on their phone that ill be looking at for years. three of us saw a shooting star too (we saw multiple instances), mine was the first ive ever seen irl.
i almost didnt go. very good reason to be out until 3 am. i would do that again in a heartbeat.
i realized last night i could make one of my cicadacon2024 offerings better so. im redoing it. so... in order to properly show off the replacement thing instead preorders are pushed tomorrow. i think this new version is a lot better already, have a preview!
