i'd love to believe this, but so often the statement seems to be read as "we keep us safe, i don't have to do anything"
there is some nebulous 'we' out there, a group of people who must come together to build communities to protect and support and care for each other often to the point of sacrificing individual gain, but no one person is obligated to do anything
sometimes i feel like a schmuck for giving up so much in the hopes that someday that other world will actually happen
