wash your hands. turn their trash into treasure. thrive in the dark.

my friends have started talking Warhammer 40k meta as they build their Boarding Actions lists and i want nothing to do with it.

one of the things i hate most about Magic: The Gathering is that everybody plays the same 3 netdecks, and it's turned me off from that game in a big way. it's not that i think you shouldn't play to win (looking at you, casual EDH community); it's a competitive game, i want a viable wincon, but i don't just want to reproduce somebody else's ideas. in Magic, i like coming up with themed decks or weird combos, sometimes i just want to play a card i like. i'm a classic "Johnny" in MTG parlance.

i got into 40k because i wanted to build cool models and play a game with my friends. i'm not ever going to a tournament. i'm probably never going to a casual game with strangers at my FLGS. i just want to build cool little dudes. i don't care if people don't like Assault Centurions, i want the chonky boys with the big drills! i don't want to Mathhammer myself out of the army i think is dope.

maybe i'll lose. but at the end of the day i'd rather lose with my army than win with someone else's.
