i dunno if this makes me sound like a snob, but i think the thing that's come out of this whole OGL mess that i hadn't fully understood is that a lot of people who play D&D aren't actually interested in ttrpgs as a hobby; they just want to play D&D and it turns out many of them are actually hostile to the idea of playing something else

I've seen it said many times that D&D and TTRPGs are two separate hobbies that only sometimes overlap.
