on the internet, nobody knows you're a dog

warning: will incessantly waffle at you about myst, kreator, and an array of fish bothering games

AMC Squad, a free Build Engine game (and technically Duke3D fan game) that I've devopsed some Linux builds for, has just this weekend dropped a major quality-of-life overhaul of their current release, from nicer menu fonts to entire new gameplay systems

it's a little haphazard in places but definitely falls on the charming side of that rather than cringe, and it's got a load of very Out There stuff for a Build game:

  • locational damage on enemies, with different ammo/weapon resistances between body parts and enemy types
  • approaching a dozen different playable characters, some of which are secret/unlockable, with wildly different gameplay styles
  • a research-based equipment upgrade system with upgrades that persist between levels (and even into new games if you so wish)
  • a hub base level with customisation and upgrade options, and fun little explorable quarters for many of the characters
  • currently four full game length episodes, some with multiple endings, and a fifth one in the pipeline (but not likely to be out before next year)
  • you fuckin name it
  • just look at their wonderfully ridiculous promo art!

also if you're a terrible Linux dork like I am, aside from the Linux executable included in the main download I've also made a Flatpak build for ease of use!
