Kanonprogrammet is the earliest known Swedish computer game that is still available to play in some fashion:
This includes the fact that one of its employees, Börje Langefors, coined the Swedish word for “computer”, “dator” (a combination of “data” and “motor”) which is used to this day.
Huh! Did not know this. Super interesting writeup!
There was apparently some debate during the 60s in Swedish computer circles if they should use the Danish word "datamat" for computers. In my purely personal opinion, I think it's for the best that they went with "dator" instead. Although I am fond of some of the earlier terms, such as "matematikmaskin" ("mathematics machine").
I also like some of the clever acronyms of early Swedish computers, such as BARK, BESK, SMIL, SARA (with a tape memory, "bandminne" in Swedish, named "Saraband") and TRASK, not to mention the Danish DASK and the Norwegian NUSSE.
