just kinda thinking about this: even among people who are supportive of sex workers, particularly camworkers[1] and onlyfans people, there is a tendency to be like "get the bag!" to the camworker, but make fun of the people who pay for their content. and those two positions are kinda in opposition to one another, i feel like?
which is not to say that necessarily all people who pay for porn are necessarily good, but surely its better to pay for porn directly than to go on pornhub and consume it for free, through a massively exploitative and abusive system.
so shitting on people who pay for porn is sort of a capitulation to misogyny and whorephobia[2], isn't it? making fun of men for appropriately compensating sex workers, instead of engaging with their supposed god-given right by way of masculinity to women's bodies.
idk im certainly not the first person to have thought about this or brought it up. just thinking.
[1]: idk if there's an already agreed upon gender-neutral term for camgirls. i'm under no delusion that sex work is gender-balanced, its certainly overwhelmingly women doing it and men consuming it, but there are ofc some men and non-binary people.
[2]: is this a good word? i don't see it used much but as far as i can tell it's the only word to succinctly refer to bigotry and discrimination towards sex workers.
