i do not think that barbie resonated with me as much as it did with other women. it was a very fun movie but it didn't feel cathartic for me, just a laundry list of sociopolitical realities i know to be true. i am going to strive to not do transphobia to myself because of this. my friend (cis girl) who was sitting next to me cried profusely. so did the other cis girls i was seeing it with (except the one who was asleep for like 70% of the movie). feels a little bit alienating when all the "real girls" are crying at something you don't feel much for.
