So I picked this game up kind of on a whim and went through the whole thing today - took around five hours. Gotta say, I liked it a lot! For puzzle game standards it's honestly not too complicated, and most of the puzzles I could figure out quite easily after a bit of experimentation - that isn't a bad thing though! It means the game can put just as much focus on its environments, and holy shit are they amazing. There's something simultaneously so breathtaking and so fun about exploring all these worlds that infinitely loop around themselves, and they all feel so varied that it never really got old. It reminded me a lot of playing the Portal games for the first time (pretty sure one of the achievements is a Portal reference even) so if you're like me and you like those games for their often surreal and expansive environments I'd definitely recommend you give this game a try.
Generally the puzzles are pretty fun! There's only a few different mechanics used but they're introduced gradually and none of them really outstay their welcome - I especially liked the water puzzles where you had to redirect water as it flows down and loops back around the geometry, pretty fun stuff. There were only a couple of times I got stuck - not really with the puzzles, but some of the areas were so large combined with the gravity-flipping mechanic that I got a bit lost on where to go a few times, never for too long though. There was only one puzzle I didn't really like - it's this water puzzle near the end where you have to redirect the water through a little portal to get it somewhere else in the room - admittedly cool but it took me a while to even find the portal since it's so small so the solution felt a little cheap. Overall though they were pretty enjoyable.
Honestly even if you're not big on puzzle games (like, I'm pretty bad at them) I'd still recommend Manifold Garden for the aesthetic alone. I had to stop myself on multiple occasions from just jumping off an edge and going wheeeeeeeee as I endlessly loop back around because it's just so stupidly fun. Or just flipping onto a wall and walking endlessly into the horizon even though I know I'll just end up back where I started... there's something quite magical about it. If you're interested in picking it up it's as of May 9th 2024, valid until a week from now 60% off on Steam for a pretty reasonable price! Go check it out!
