thursday was another Feliz Jueves +R bracket; got 5th, which was fine. friday and saturday i spent mostly at home mashing on +R and CVS2 netplay, though i also got some offline sets in with sweetxjam, who came through for irene's birthday. sunday i went to harmonic combo, a new Rev2/Project+ local that's normally in the east bay but had to relocate to santa clara this month, and i won the damn thing over sweetxjam in a close grand finals.
i'm feeling noticeably better than i was during the week, and i suspect it's because i got a good night's sleep both yesterday and today. there is some annoying long-term construction near us right now, and they start work at around 8 or 830AM; normally i go to sleep around 2AM and i count on being able to sleep until 930 or so, but the construction has been death. i think fixing my sleep has probably got to be step #1 in leveling up my mental health game. therapy, meditation, and yoga are also all on the list, highly recommended by friends who i trust to talk brain stuff with. one step at a time!
right now we're just about in the 'offseason' for major fgc events; CEOTaku is next week, and it's the last notable Rev2 tournament until Frosty Faustings 2023. i think this will be some good time to work on my +R for a bit; a lot of the neutral practice carries over to Rev2, and it's easy to find stronger players, so i think it'll be a valuable practice tool. someday i should write about my approach to fighting game cross-training in more detail, i suppose, as it's a bit different from how most people do it and takes a lot of inspiration from my martial arts practice.
off from work for the next week! it'll be good for me. unfortunately it will be followed up by a lot of work, but it'll be something fun, at least.
