week is going good so far! hitting my workouts and sticking to the practice routine.
monday was the same chipp combo/pressure practice i've been doing, trying to continue focusing on tightening up my combo and setup execution and getting my hit confirms on point. i think there's a lot of room for me to improve my grounded pressure, but i think i'm seriously going to have to break it down into a more deliberate flow chart in order to really level it up, which is probably a weekend project at the very least.
tuesday i played well in REV2SDAY, lost to Bread twice and got fourth. working on the baiken matchup is a huge pain but i think focusing on outplaying him in neutral is probably the better option to play the matchup, at least for now. last time i was working on the baiken matchup it was mostly focused on defense but i'm still getting wrecked and tbh i don't think there's much that chipp can do there. i'll review the footage over the weekend and see if anything comes up after letting it soak in the brain for a bit though. there were a few times where i had the right idea and just failed to execute and it fuckin killed me.
i realized today that the issue i have with punishing suzuran on reaction is that i'm reacting to the wrong thing. specifically, i'm treating it like fuzzy mashing on a redash, but since baikens usually cancel out of attacks into suzuran, i'm still in blockstun and my buttons don't come out when i expect them to, then i get thrown by the time i realized what happened. since baikens don't really do redashes much, i should just practice labbing between the two different options to remind my hands what the timing is.
wednesday was +R day so i hit my lab session in, working on the same execution stuff (FRCs, TK alpha combos, slashback jump cancel) and a couple character-specific combos (this time it was on Testament). then i ran into like 18 potemkins and a slayer. did fine but i hate how volatile those matchups are, especially without YRC Gamma.
tomorrow the plan is to enter Feliz Jueves for +R, then hit Gamecenter for Friday casuals. we got caliburst this weekend! i never get to go full power into caliburst because running shit takes a lot out of me, but it's always a great time and we didn't do it last month bc evo so i'm super stoked to get our locals back in the mix.
