I still had a few images in photobucket, back from highschool and college. Well, today, photobucket sent me an email: "You want them back? Give us $5". They've apparently switched to a pay service (it will not help them, they've been dying for years). If you find yourself in the same situation, and want to get your photos back without paying them your hard earned $5, the steps are as follows:
- go to the reactivate page.
- select delete my account.
- continue to the third screen.
- instead of selecting "confirm account deletion", select the very miss-able "7 day trial".
- log in again and download your photos.
they have been sending me these emails for a long time
i wonder if they ever actually will delete our account if we don't do it for them
wish i could ever recover my acct but i think its tied to a long defunct email so...passing this along to those with better success
