the roughest part about serialized online media but ESPECIALLY webcomics is the way readers tend to make assumptions and judgment calls in the comments before a scene has finished playing out, because they only get one page a week or whatever. if i was a creator and i had my readers yelling about how rude or shitty a character is in the comments because i haven't posted the page yet where the character reveals WHY they are acting the way they are i would be so frustrated

God, it's so frustrating because you do want tension, you want moments where you're like, "woah, why would they say that... what's going on...?" but that's different from having a gap of days or weeks between pages and just deciding that means, "I know everything that's going on here and THAT character is being an asshole and I WILL complain about it because it's your fault as a writer for making them an asshole"

Me enjoying webcomics that I've seen people drop and call the creators abuse apologists or whatever because the weekly release means the characters don't immediately turn to the camera and say: "this is a bad situation and I am going to have perfect brain and resolve it immediately" be like :) :) :) :)
