thoughts on vinyl records?

i really really like tangible media in a world dominated by subscription based acquisition. it also just has a specific flavor to it when listening from speakers you wired to the receiver yourself

idk im no hater of digital and my brain does benefit from playlists n such but access only doable via digital format can also be easily lost. its something i can (relatively) guarantee functionality when i want to get at it

another reason i love vinyl is because its also having art pieces...vinyl cover art is some of the funnest shit ever and even during the CD album heyday this quirk managed to continue!! I remember when i'd grab cds with allowance money and the first thing i did was pull out the front cover and it was a long pamphlet of band information and song lyrics and sometimes a list of related websites you could go to when you got home for more shit

i love the cover art itself being so varied and fun and it being half the reason i snag a vinyl album (especially when im rooting through cheap vinyl ive never seen before so i gotta go off cover art for funsies). i love getting trivia on band members and seeing lyrics to songs and all these little silly notes and scribbles inside of the vinyl jackets

and yes you can get access to art n trivia and etc with digital purchases and their bundles too. plus with digital its easier than ever for artists to get their music out there without having to know how to distribute physical content, and i think that kicks ass. but its soooo nice to have something away from the necessity of computer access that you can interact with

humans need physical stimulus and healthy access to tangible media is such a blessing for stimulating all the senses. even smell. sometimes you get a stinky vinyl jacket for some reason. but by the grace of the vinyl gods the music itself ends up changing your life so now you have that smell rooted permanently to a dope album
