btw ppl probably want to know how to add their own buttons and signatures to their posts and it's relatively easy

for mine it's basically a div with some stylised text and a span with the buttons inside, but you might notice that images don't display side by side by default, AND that they have this crazy spacing on them!

to fix this, we need to set the style tag inside the element to this:

style="display: inline; margin: inherit;"

that way it displays correctly without super big vertical spacing:

it's important to put them inside an element like a span or div, as margin: inherit takes whatever value is set by the parent tag (which is, by default for posts, 32px). we tell it to inherit so we can change the margins via the parent rather than fiddling with each individual button, makes life easier

as for the vertical line it's literally just a <hr> tag which makes a horizontal rule, or line, which by default spans the entire box it's in. you can stylise this too!

and make some funky ones that aren't really <hr> tags but whatever:

(the CSS for which i ripped from this stack overflow post)

for pasting in your sig i suggest using the Autofill addon for firefox, you can configure it to fill the post form with your sig - set it to Safe so it doesn't replace the post contents when you preview!

happy signature-making!

I'm such a fool... I thought these were old-school vsbasic-looking clickable buttons, ones that actually indented when clicked. So I tried clicking them - in three different browsers, in case my current one(s) was bugging out with the CSS.
