yknow ive heard it thrown around a lot that we live in a harsh world, or the internet is cruel, and folks need to grow thicker skins. i hate to talk about folks behind their back but that's never really been true.
i grew up being hurt, and i got used to being hurt. the vector hasn't changed since high school; folks looking to hate others just to fill time, or for the sake of it. but i'm not in school anymore, and a lot of those folks aren't either, only now they're using another excuse.
we don't "live in a harsh world", nor is the internet inherently cruel. we live in a world where people make decisions. some decisions are hard. change is hard. loving is hard. being vulnerable is hard. but making excuses for your hate, masking it in cute little pictures and taglines, choosing never to change? very little is easier than inaction.
one last thing, on skin - i quite like mine, but it never really grew any thicker, and i doubt others' will, either. getting used to getting hurt just means you can mentally parry better, but it gets tiring real quick. i think it's in folks' best interests to ensure nobody has to get used to it ever again
