it fills me with dread to think we have an entire generation of kids raised on consolidated, easy-access platforms that don't allow nearly the same limitless customisation as sites like tumblr and neocities. i feel like we've allowed big business to strangle self-expression in a way we couldn't even detect, and now we're all the same icon and username in a box.
fuck that noise. i want those annoying fucking music players back that i couldnt turn off. i want silly buttons that people collected en masse Just In Case they'd ever need it. i want shitty web1.0 design with hard edges and tacky backgrounds. shit that looks utterly disgusting to a web designer but sick as hell to you and the people you talk to on skype.
shit that you fuckin care about. that you dedicate entire folders in your My Documents to bc it should fundamentally exist, it's an extension of you and what you represent. thats what we should aim for i think. i spit on web3 and propose this generation be called webfuck
