i'm honestly losing faith in there ever being a good place to post art again, bleh

my tumblr's only gonna be up until someone eventually reports me for posting porn, there's all this nonsense going on with fa now, twitter is a fascist hellscape that i already left, what else is left? i really like it here but this place is so small, it feels less like a place to build a gallery and grow an audience and more like like a refuge

i feel like soon i'll be stuck sharing my art in group chats and hoping people share it around and pass on the comments they get

something new will come along, even if it means some of us have to build it ourselves. cohost isn't a gallery site, less so one than even tumblr is, though it does have the option to do something sorta gallery-like with pinned tags

I have a shape in mind. I've been designing it for years and the current mess makes me feel like I'm personally being kicked in the butt to get it moving, but I've been having the brain problems and starting to do anything feels like climbing a mountain every day. if I can at least get it rolling, I know I won't have to do it alone, tho

i've seen a lot of very promising sites pop up over the years, often they were really great with all the important features and stuff, but none of them managed to take off

i feel like the main thing keeping anything from succeeding is just how unwilling people are to try something new, even with all the god awful stuff that's happened to twitter a huge portion of artists and general users refuse to use anything else, whether it's out of laziness or because they don't want to go past what's familiar

yeah. the shape I have in mind isn't a website, for this reason. it's more of a system and a network, with a couple tricks that mean it'd be easier to keep up with. would take time to hit any kind of critical mass, but so would anything really...
