Reflecting on Ocarina of Time and the series' game design after replaying recently, my mind has built the hot take that OoT perfected its game design formula and Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were attempts on adding "more" to it on which the "more" was very well done but faltered from not executing the basic formula as well, while also making it impossible to be iterated on.

It makes me relieved that Nintendo stopped taking jabs at this formula and tried something new with Breath of the Wild, but it also gives me aprehension of how Tears of the Kingdom will turn out

i see where that thought's coming from, but as a fan of twilight princess & how it 'remixed' OoT into a form i actually enjoyed a lot... i think there's room to take that new shape and rearrange it into interesting forms, adding verbs or changing them. i'm excited to see how tears shifts things around.

Yeah impossible was a strong word. It's not much that Twilight Princess and the others' take on the OoT formula can't be iterated and improved and more that it's something I doubt Nintendo would do, with how rarely they aim to evolve their games as opposed to 'remix' their design, and with how more difficult to 'remix' TP's design is compared to OoT since it goes into more specific elements.

More reason for me to keep an eye on TotK probably
