Ayana Tsujita's gotta be my favorite contemporary music composer. Her instrumental writing is impecable and her compositions are always fun and inspiring.
With not being able to truly conect to contemporary music (besides mechanical writing) being one of the reasons I quit music college, I feel I'd probably keep at it if I had known her work at the time.
