I'm just never ready when Yokahama Kaidashi Kikou does the switch from daily inaka life shenanigans to characters talking about growing up, death, immortality and the inevitable end of the world while eating watermelon and enjoying the summer view

i've really enjoyed this manga, haven't gotten super far in it yet, but i love what i've read! have you seen the ova(s) before? wouldn't say they do the best job capturing the vibe, but at least the first one is p enjoyable in its own right

I've seen the OVAs! And I wish there was a full adaptation of the series in the vein of the first one (Quiet Country Cafe one had a lot of male gaze that really bothered me...), it definitely doesn't capture the same vibe of the manga but it's a great adaptation on its own right.

The animation and scenery work is wonderful along with the wonderful soundscape, and the soundtrack choosing chorinho for its few occasional songs manages to hit a sense of familiarity with its representation of summer for my brazilian brain that few media can.
