This song played twice during Lula's inauguration and I've been thinking about it since.
It's a really good choice, with Villa-Lobos being Brazil's most recognized classical composer and this being his most recognized song in this country. But it's also so weird
A song that relies so much on its foley composition to mimick a train's movement, but unlike most songs in Saga Jazz's train song compilation, doesn't bind it too much harmony recognizability. The harmony is held together for the most part by a C pedal, only varying on the high point of the melody, which can survive all the chaos by being so catchy and diatonic that your brain fill the gaps naturally.
I really love this piece
