but Word looks so nice and clean and Microsoft even added a smooth animation for the cursor advancing which makes the experience of writing in it indescribably nicer
But I'm probably still gonna install Libre because pirating Office is annoying lol
I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.
Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

My problem with office suites is that no one has ever been taught how to use one correctly, and too few people cared enough to learn on their own. If you ever have to maintain a document someone else is editing then you get used to copying text into Notepad to force clear all formatting and starting over in a new document, because Word has gained the ability to merge and mangle styles to try to force documents to be formatted the right way despite people using the program naïvely...
I know Google Docs has a different paste shortcut that removes all formatting by holding one extra key when you paste. If Word or Libre didn't have the same function, that would be pretty damn stupid I think.
Lately for all of my creative writing I've been using SimpleNote since it syncs across all my devices, and its formatting it limited to Markdown that you don't even see in effect until you switch over to the Preview mode, effectively forcing the user to JUST WRITE. Then I copy paste all of that into a doc and format it there when I feel ready lol.
also I am one of those people who does not know how to use an office suite. I know like half of Word maybe, just enough to do what I need to, and all of the other apps are arcane to me. I often just do a custom install where I just install Word because I'll never open anything else. Excel is dark magic runes as far as I'm concerned. Though I did buy an Office for Dummies book from a thrift shop recently that I've been meaning to peruse to at least learn the basics of Excel.
