I first watched Enterprise without knowing this and honestly, in retrospect it explains so many things about that series
Putting old media into the context of when it was produced often explains a lot of the really vexing elements.
I vividly remember people having to explain online, repeatedly, that no, this whole show with a plot about the Suliban trying to undermine the Federation was in the can months ago.
It happened during the middle of filming for episode 9, and you can tell that they stopped filming in the middle of one scene and everyone came back looking awful.
its fine. it wasn't at the time because we didn't have the perspective of 20 years, but it's fine. it's not GOOD, but compared to the rest of what was out at the time? its fine.
It's like if Andromeda were to star that guy from hercules instead of Lexa Douig and Lisa Rider
it's better than what we have now, for sure. at least it made the attempt to be a Star Trek show.
