So naturally I'll just go ahead and buy a 50-pack Verbatim spindle so I'll never lack for one for the rest of my natural life.
I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Then the next time you need one you'll forget where the spindle is and buy another one!
Oh please, I only have eight spindles of other kinds of optical media that I always forget when I need a disc :)
also because of online pricing and shipping, it was only very marginally more expensive than a much much smaller quantity. so, ya know. now I got 48 spares
This. I did initially find one 25-pack that was selling for cheaper per-disc price than any other listing I could find (~68¢ per disc) but it disappeared before I could nab it. So I went with the Verbatim 50-pack, which is $1.02 per disc. Amazon was selling some knockoff discs in a 50-pack for only like 50¢ per disc, but they were from the "Optical Quantum" non-brand and last time I purchased knockoff dual layer DVDs (that were Kodak branded somehow) nearly every single one came out as a coaster, so I think I'll spend the extra up front to get known good quality media haha
