is one of the most insane songs ever produced. It comes from the album Hawaii: Part II, released under the moniker of "ミラクルミュージカル" or "Miracle Musical," which was a pet project of former Tally Hall member Joe Hawley, and the album involved many of the band's other former members.
Eccentric is a good word to describe Joe Hawley, and it's also one of the only words I can use to describe the monolithic work that is The Mind Electric. It is overproduced and overmixed to the point it becomes a parody of itself, then goes even further and loops back around to being impressive from the fact it manages to retain its cohesion, it somehow doesn't implode under its own density, but only just, because just like the song's subject, the mix itself is trying to not let itself be ripped apart.
As the song is (not unsubtly) about electro-shock therapy, it appears the goal was to sonically simulate what the procedure would feel like. And if you watch the official lyric video, it's also simulated visually. I'm going to link the lyric video, but DO NOT watch it if you even THINK you might suffer epilepsy, or if flashing lights gives you a headache or something. Like, I'm not joking, this video is the most 100% guaranteed epilepsy-triggering piece of video content I've ever seen.
If you have never heard it before, I advise to just sit and listen all the way through. I know what you're gonna think the moment it begins, but no, that's not just a gimmick, it does serve a purpose, and the two versions of the song are actually distinct from each other.
AGAIN DO NOT WATCH THIS IF YOU ARE EPILEPTIC OR SENSITIVE TO FLASHING LIGHTS
