Current Hyperfixation: Wizard of Oz

  • He/Him

I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

This post has content warnings for: cursing, like a lot of naughty words.

For real though, like... nothing new to watch? Just watch something old. I'm not even saying that for nostalgia reasons, there's decades upon decades worth of media that either got snubbed in its heyday, or made moderate or even great success in its time only to be subsequently forgotten about in later years. Same applies to literature, music, etc - it's hardly a nostalgia grab if people have only ever described it as decidedly passé in your own time.

there's so much more shit you can get on disc that isn't available on streaming or at least not nearly as good on streaming. And I think it's a much healthier way to consume media than scrolling mindlessly through an infinite catalog of thumbnails. I've never been happier and more engaged in my shows than when I'm watching them on a $20 blu-ray set.

And also stop paying for streaming until these companies pay their writers. Don't even buy the blu-rays directly from them, buy used.

at this point, i want to see even more strike action happen across the board. i want to see that fetid, horrid machine they've got running over there grind to a sputtering halt.
I want to see CEO's be destroyed in the ways that not even a golden parachute could ever hope to save them.

Oh, and it's not like we don't have over 40 odd years of stuff already around to view, catch up, rewatch, and so on.
Not on streaming? fair enough, how do you look in a puffy shirt and eyepatch? like parrots? sailing?

Same. All the CGI artists striking would put an instant end to all the MCU shit, for one - and probably lead to better special effects across the board, no matter what medium they're based in at that.

... also I'll say 18th century fashion suits me damn fine.
