i've been keeping an eye on patreon's mentions on twitter and it really looks like they just shrugged and left the office for the weekend while lots of people are still complaining they haven't been paid, can't retry their failed payments, or can't access the content they have been charged for.

i just... if this isn't an all-hands-on-deck emergency i don't know what is. like sorry but if your job is making sure people get paid reliably, you shouldn't actually get to just walk out on that? what is going on over there!!!

Yeah, previous times this happened, I was at least able to tell my bank that yes the charge was intentional, and they tried the (entire) payment again in a few days. This time instead of retrying automatically, they're directing patrons to go to their billing page and hit the "retry" button on every creator individually, which actually just links to the "join" page to sign up for the creator's patreon fresh, which has a number of crappy knock-on effects (like not being able to re-select pledges that were limited or no longer available to new patrons, not paying the full "per creation" amount for the previous month, not saving on the credit card fees for small payments by bundling them into one big payment).

...or at least, I assume it wouldh ave those knock-on effects if it worked, which it sure isn't, for me.

(if I had to guess why they're telling people to retry manually this time instead of doing automatically, I'd guess they're afraid of too many "fraudlent" charges getting them blacklisted or penalized, so they only want people who've already called their bank to do it. Still wouldn't explain why they're forcing us to do it creator-by-creator, though)
