Current Hyperfixation: Wizard of Oz

I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

one of the best features of Microsoft Outlook (the email provider service, not the Office program - fuck the Office program) is aliases, allowing you to generate multiple email addresses that route to the same inbox, and if you're using an official app you can also easily tap a button to send from any of your aliases. Allows one to easily circumvent the age-old conundrum of having to give your workplace your email address and it's some cringey bullshit. You can just make up another one that's "professional" looking and it routes to the same inbox with no further input!

They also don't expire from what I've seen so far, I can go months or over a year without receiving an email at one of my two or three Outlook aliases and they're still mine.

My favourite use for aliases was making up a new one for any business or site that wanted an email address for whatever they do. Simple as adding "-[site]" to my regular name. Gave me another easy way to sort mail messages and ALSO was an instant tell that the business or site sold my address (or was compromised) if I started getting spam and such sent from anyone but that site.
