Okay, I've gotta give Kastar credit for taking Sony's larger NP-F battery, and instead of just copying it, they seemingly improved upon it by making it a multipurpose hunk of battery.

I've seen rechargeable AA's with micro-USB charging ports on them before, and those always felt like a waste to me because of how small they are and how much space has to be taken up by the charging circuitry no matter how much you shrink it down. But in a 1lb. massive hunk of battery it makes a lot more sense and wastes a lot less space. This is an objectively good idea that all huge batteries should have an option for.

I wonder how many of these, for dropping Vbus down to 1.5 volts, are going to use switching regulators (which you can make about the size of a coin-cell battery, but would be 90% efficient) vs. linear regulators (which can be made basically arbitrarily small, but would drop about 80% of the electricity onto the floor)

oh yeah a 9V battery implementation for this will definitely be more efficient, since to increase the voltage from 5V Vbus to 9V you're going to need some sort of active circuitry -- I'm just starting the bigclive video now and I'm curious if the cell voltage is actually even 9V, or if it's charging a standard 3.7/4.2V li-ion battery and then boosting the output
