wish i could post polls but anyways i think i'll be uploading Enterprise in HEVC/H.265 rather than H.264. So far I've reserved H.265 encoding for the films but I've yet to have anyone complain that they can't play the films, and you'd be surprised how much extra bandwidth is needed for going from 4:3 to 16:19, 1440x1080 to 1920x1080 is an additional 842,400 pixels, per frame, 24 times per second. Even with switching to HEVC/H.25, I might still have to increase the file size to get the quality I want out of it. I always seek to maintain grain that's present in the source. I recently ripped and converted Doctor Who series 5 and 6, both shot on the HD video cameras of 2010 and 2011, and oh man those are noisy episodes. I ended up doing every episode in HEVC at around 3 to 3.8GB per episode, depending. I'd legitimately be giving each episode 9 to 10Mbps to work with, it was producing visually lossless results! But I think I can probably keep the same at around 3GB and still get fantastic results. We'll see...
