I wonder in how many years my current attitude of:
I don't like buying 4K Blu-rays when the box only includes the 4K disc, not only because I've only got one player in the house capable of reading 4K discs, but also because there's only one screen in the house capable of properly displaying 4K HDR video anyways, and it's annoying and difficult to rip and compress the discs because HDR support is spotty as hell.
will feel as antiquated and silly as:
I don't like buying Blu-rays when the box doesn't include a DVD, because I only have one Blu-ray player in the house and only one HD screen, and the discs are way more annoying to rip and compress because nothing can properly handle HD video yet and the files are massive.
just the slow march of technology. I do remember when no reasonable blu-ray seller would dare not include a DVD in the box, now it seems chintzy and silly to do so unless you're specifically targeting the Old People demographic.
remembers trying to explain to some grandpa why his 4K of Grease wouldn't play on his DVD player from 2004, and that it wasn't a defective disc, and how he just got pissed off at me for trying to help him understand, lol
