I think it's very funny that the Christmas Music Loop every radio station does around this time of year just, inexplicably includes the complete Charlie Brown theme song?

Like, yeah, they did have a Christmas special, but so did every kid's show, so why's that one deemed a "Christmas song" now?

Is it because it's incredibly cheap to license? It's because it's incredibly cheap to license isn't it

The christmas special was the first animated Charlie Brown thing and therefore the first use of that theme tune, so maybe that is the reason? In terms of cheap licensing I'd think the several actual christmas songs on the same soundtrack are similarly cheap to license

ah well that would make sense I guess, until the other specials came out it was basically a Christmas song. Still though, the vibe of that song feels way more "Charlie Brown" than it does "Christmas" imo

If memory serves me right, it was actually written prior to the special as like basically just charlie brown music (I think for a documentary that never happened or something?) so yeah it is iffy but there's a logic there. Bordering on "die hard is a christmas movie" logic though lol
