in my last post I mentioned Japanese blu-ray recorders, and how they only take coaxial inputs, making them not super appealing devices.
There's got to be ones with HDMI-in, though, right? I mean, HDCP exists, so without some extra contraption in the middle, you wouldn't be able to Do Piracy with an HDMI-in port anyways.
But I'm not even so interested in that as I would be in one with analog SD inputs, like S-Video, component, composite, or SCART (or a secret, funnier fifth thing). Making your own SDBD's with a little blu-ray recorder that can save those analog inputs at native res, but in the much higher quality AVC codec at presumably much better bitrates. Or do its own 1080i upscaling (yes, 1080i), or better yet give me the option between both!
Would honestly get one of those if they exist. Wouldn't even need to support 3 or 4 layer discs :P
