I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

Don't worry, this comment made me fall down the rabbit hole so you don't have to. :eggbug:

The first search result for "The Magic Thread" curiously pulls up the entire excerpt from The Book of Virtues at this link: https://www.davidgaultiere.com/the-magic-thread/

The story is credited to "Anonymous," I assume that means the person who wrote the story wished to go unnamed, as The Book of Virtues was a compilation of "moral tales" collected from teachers across the nation, edited together by one William J. Bennett - who is more well known for having served as Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities from 1981-'85 and then as Secretary of Education from '85-'88 under Ronald Reagan, and then as the very first director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy from 1989-90 under George H.W. Bush, so y'know, when a guy like that publishes a book titled The Book of Virtues: A Treasury of Great Moral Stories, you know exactly what to expect.

But anyways the story in question focuses on the fast-forwarding and rewinding one's own life aspect so I can see how it inspired Click (2006).

I guess when you rip off a Goosebumps episode, a weird conservative parable from the 90s, and It's A Wonderful Life all at once that's not really a rip-off anymore that's just inspiration but still why'd he have to give it the same name as the Goosebumps episode lmao.

The only thing I remember from that movie anyways is Christopher Walken and the Bed Bath & Beyond gag.
