first it was pop-ups. then it was pop-unders. now it's pop-overs. all of them are, or were, annoying.

maybe, just maybe, things on web sites shouldn't be POPPING. i motion for a Pop-Free Internet. let shit stay where the hell it is on the page and quit trying to move it around dynamically.

the "good" news is that Aftermath also doesn't include the actual article body in the page DOM unless you're signed in so it's not like the popover is actually covering up any useful information

Yeah I can dispute the value of another Take on AI but assuming some hypothetical guy is writing something worth reading to begin with gating it behind a paywall seems fair? The obnoxious cutesy shit where you're partway through reading and then some stupid animation starts dancing around in your face merits charging the platform a fee for your wasted time though.
