One of the worst things about ecommerce is it's apparently common and normal practice to not really say what service you use?
Like they'll just say "Standard Shipping - $4.99" "Expedited Shipping - $19.99" and such. That's not helpful, what service are you using? Is Standard USPS Ground Advantage? Media Mail? Is Expedited USPS Priority Mail? Or a UPS service? I want to know which one of these is FedEx so I can avoid it like the fucking plague.
I think the reason might be to hide that they charge slightly more than the actual shipping rates, but like, I don't care, I get it, packaging and labor and stuff, whatever, just tell me what service or carrier you're using PLEASE.
Anyways I ordered a really nice book from a boutique press from the UK and only found out once they sent me a shipping email that it's some sort of international FedEx service so I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope it ever actually gets here. Next time I'll try spending the extra $20 on their expedited option and just hope it's something else, or at the very least a branch of FedEx that pays its employees properly.
