Not talking about Google sunsetting services and apps - they've done that hundreds of times - but specifically their payment/wallet apps. They keep ping-ponging between their two payment apps. It feels fresh in my memory that they were sunsetting Wallet and moving everything over to GPay, and then they renamed it from GPay to Google Pay (after it had previously been renamed from Google Pay to GPay), and then they brought back Wallet as a more limited version of Google Pay, but then they split the functionality off of Google Pay entirely so now you basically had to have two apps on your phone, Google Pay and Google Wallet. And now they're killing Google Pay and presumably integrating all its functionality back into Wallet, the app they've killed and revived like twice now.
This is hilarious. This is severe tech corporation gangrenous rot. Some project manager with absolutely zero idea how to iterate upon a functionally Finished product like "app you put your card into for tap to pay and online transactions" just going in circles all day long, spending millions of dollars and months of developmers' time to reinvent the same app again and again, this time we'll add some bells and whistles, this time we'll take some away, none of it actually fucking matters because it'll all be different again in 6 months. Google in a fucking nutshell.
