Current Hyperfixation: Wizard of Oz

I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

in reply to @xkeeper's post:

it is extremely funny how the new cool framework in the block has 'ship less javascript to the user' as a selling point, but making things not require javascript is unthinkable nowadays

this is exactly the reason we've been trying really hard lately to find ways to do everything we care about without using a browser (and also without using any third-party binaries, which would have the same problems plus they're arguably less secure).

it's not an easy task, there are still lots and lots of things we need it for. every little bit helps though.

It doesn't help that half the time new features that would be useful in a proper declarative page are only accessible with Javascript. I swear the people driving the modern standards think the only html page that should exist is [!doctype html][script src="/site.js"]

(Cohost complains about even escaped script tags so the wrong brackets it is)
