Current Hyperfixation: Wizard of Oz

I use outdated technology just for fun, listen to crappy music, and watch a lot of horror movies. Expect posts about These Things. I talk a lot.

Check tags like Star Trek Archive and Media Piracy to find things I share for others.

decided to back up my Twin Peaks Season 3 blu-rays because the box is genuinely the worst thing ever and the discs came pre-scratched and scuffed right out of the shrink wrap. Disc 2 is deciding to only copy at 2x speed so it's taken an hour and a half to copy. No blu-ray I've ever done a full disc rip of has run at 2x the entire time before haha. I haven't even gotten to the scratched disc lol

I remember the time I bought a Monty Python Holy Grail Deluxe on DVD and the packaging was so bad I took out the discs, put in some blanks CDs, tried removing them, and... the disc became cracked after several attempts. :eggbug-nervous:

Interesting - while I have a US Holy Grail "Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition" DVD with some funky packaging and 3 discs (including a CD?) in a tri-fold cardboard box, the plastic disc tray inserts don't seem to difficult. They could've been changed through production though, or gotten more pliable with age, or I might not have the release you're talking about haha.

But the only other disc packaging I can think of as worse than this Twin Peaks set is my Star Trek TNG Complete Series Blu-ray set, which double-stacks the discs on some of the most horrendously poorly molded clamps I've ever had the displeasure of using. Not only were discs nigh impossible to remove, they were often impossible to put back, to the degree some of the stacks in the box set were loose brand new - meaning someone at the factory tried and failed to get those discs onto their proper spindles and just Gave Up. And I don't blame them one bit - the packaging has claimed at least two of the discs' lives that I know of, and Paramount/CBS was absolutely zero help in getting them replaced, leaving me forced to basically just buy the whole set again sometime in the future (since they no longer produce/sell the individual seasons).
